National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC)
Description
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) is a museum located in the ancient city of Fustat, now part of Cairo. Its collection of 50,000 artifacts presents Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to the present day, across an area of 490,000 square meters.
The museum partially opened in February 2017 and officially opened on April 4, 2021, following the arrival of the royal mummies after a grand public parade.
The permanent exhibition is divided into two main sections: chronological and thematic.

The museum’s collections come from several Egyptian institutions, including the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Coptic Museum, the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo, the Manial Palace and Museum in Cairo, and the Royal Jewelry Museum in Alexandria.
